Recent Collaborations

Felix Cartal (feat. Lights) and Todor Kobakov

At the end of January 2024 we recorded string quartet arrangements by Todor Kobakov at Brian Adams’ recording studio in Vancouver. The whole thing was filmed and will be released soon. It was exciting working with some of Vancouver’s finest string players to bring these songs to life! The final product will feature Jennie Press, Colleen Venables, Katrina Chitty and Zoltan Rozsnyai playing with Felix and Lights.

Rob Calder, Tony Scudellari

In 2023 I joined the Composer Filmmaker Accelerator (CFA) faculty as Copyist/Librarian. The CFA is an advanced program of hands-on learning for emerging composers of music for Media. This program is part of Vancouver International Film Festival (VIFF) AMP which explores the essential role of music and Sound in film, television and new Media. As part of this CFA program my fellow faculty members were curator, composer and advocate Miriam Cutler, scoring session producer Michelle Sudduth and recording engineer and score mixer Damon Tedesco.

Said The Whale

In 2021 Vancouver based indie band Said The Whale released Dandelion an album that featured my writing for string quartet and arrangement for brass.

In 2023 Said The Whale and the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra performed a full 20 song concert for which I wrote an overture and arranged music for each of the songs.

Edwin Outwater and Peaches Christ

In 2022 I produced an orchestra show written by conductor Edwin Outwater and drag artist Peaches Christ. The show was called Symphony of Terror and was presented in October just before halloween. It featured classical examples of music used in the horror genre as well as some more modern works. The show was heavily scripted, full of interesting sound and video effects that spooked a packed house and full symphony orchestra.

Eric St. Laurent

In 2023 I wrote the music for Filmmaker Eric St. Laurent’s short film Ascention. This project allowed me to create a score of fully electronic music. A small budget production that pushed us to be creative on the music production side of things this was one of my favourite collaborations of the last year. The film will be available soon!

What I Do

How i work

A composer by training I like to think of myself as a collaborative music creator. I have been called “expert generalist” when it comes to modern music making. I was never the best performer in town but I’ve spent a career building skills many different areas of music creation. I use Logic Pro X in combination with Finale or Sibelius to create original music for performance and recordings.

About My Work

As a professional musician

I spent a decade as an Orchestra Librarian at two major orchestras in Canada. I arranged music for a full 20 song concert with the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra and indie rock band Said The Whale who I also provided arrangements for their 2021 album Dandelion. I was the copyist for the VIFF AMP Composer Filmmaker Accelerator program that produced 12 original film score clips each with a different composer and live orchestra.
