Copyist Work

As a copyist it’s my job to make sheet music legible and easy for musicians to read quickly. If you’re a composer, you can write as complicated music as you like but the copyist will make it as clear to the musician or conductor as possible.

Stategy

Page size, staff size and how we organize the layout for scores and parts will depend on the use case of the music. I will have questions for you about what the project is for. If we’re publishing a concerto for a soloist and orchestra to perform live it will be different than a recording session for film.

Delivery

After the work is approved you’ll receive all the files I made, PDFs of what the musicians need and if necessary I will have the music printed at the Canadian Music Centre or a local print shop depending on the needs of the project. Printing and Shipping amounts will be charged at cost.

Rates are based on Canadian League of Composers rates. To get estimate for your project you can use $36/page for each score + 12/page per part. It can be hard to know how many pages something is if you don’t have an engraved file so feel free to reach out for a free estimate from me.
